Back to School We Go!

Well it's that time of the week again and we are packing all of our stuff up, and heading back to Stettler for school. The weekends go way to fast! Only three more weeks of this and then we are back to "normal" life! It's -19 out, with a wind chill of -26! and I swear over the weekend it snowed close to 20 cm!
Spencer trying to chip at our Ice walk lol
There is so much snow! WHY! why do I live in Alberta!
It went from warm and all the snow melting to really cold, and all that melted snow turning to ice!

Store bought vs DIY

As you might not already know I am a student, and i'm in my second year of nursing school, so right now we are doing whats called practicum. We go and work in a hospital (without pay!) thats an hour away from our town, for 7 weeks Mon-Thurs; our teachers are there with us, and we get to move around from acute care, to ER, to Dialysis, and OR. It's been a struggle to adjust, I think most of us feel stupid 75% of the time, but hey we can't know everything right away.

So anyway this long winded story of practicum is leading into the reason for this post; after a long day of practicum Ang and I went shopping around town and found a cute little country decor shop. I found these really cute fabric balls, I think they ranged from $.75- $1.25 Pricey! I bought them :S I think I spent like $12 on them!!
Ok, so the fabric balls are in the jar on the left hand corner, and I also bought the little fabric star in front. The blue tray I bought at the Thrift store for $3!
Close up of them, there are 3 different sizes.
After I got home and I put them in their place, I felt kind of stupid for spending so much money on them. I could have so easily done it myself! And thats just what I did, kind of, I helped Ang make her own, and all together it cost $1.50!!!! I feel so silly, but I learned my lesson!
They turned out so cute, and you can make them any color, and wind them however you want!
Thanks For Reading!

First Post! YAY!

So I know that not a soul is reading this except maybe my boyfriend :S But I am doing it anyway! So I recently became addicted to following DIY and design blogs, LOVE THEM! And I thought well, I am always doing little crafty projects around the house, bargain shopping, and rearranging in my house, so why not blog about it, I’m sure someone will find me amusing!
So I have no clue about how to do this so I predict many screw ups and bumps along the way, but hey! That’s half the fun, right?
I really like the colors of these birds but i think they will look 10x better white!

Yesterday my girlfriend and I were supposed to go into the city for a girl’s night out, shopping and dinner, but because we live in Canada and its winter, we weren’t able to go. So instead we went
and did some bargain shopping at our local salvation army, and I picked up these cutest little birds! I kind of liked the color at first, but I decided it isn’t going to match very well with my decor, so I
am in the process of spray painting them white, then I think I am going to paint the part that is orange, a robin egg blue, or a really nice light green. Not sure yet?!
At first I used toilet paper rolls to hold them up, but I decided they weren't stable enough to I used a caulking tube lol

I also picked up these other cute little birds, I forgot to get a before picture, I was way too excited to get them painted; they were an ugly brown, someone was going for the realistic bird look and it didn’t work at all, not for me anyways! I bought some glossy finish spray paint in hopes it will come out looking chic, it’s the first time I have ever spray painted anything and I’m hoping it works out. If not they were only a buck!
